Winter Themed Card

We are hosting a church fellowship at our home this January.
This is the invitation card that I will be sending.
I used an Anna Griffin embossing folder for the swirled snow aqua background.
The snowflakes are from Martha Stewart punches.
I sprayed them with glue then sprinkled them with Martha Stewart glitter.
Very blingy in person.  :)

The cute swirled snow stamps on the inside of the card were done with a stamp set
and pigment ink from Close to My Heart.

I thought the whole snow theme was appropriate considering it will be
January and we are in one of the snow capital states of the U.S.

Have a blessed weekend, my friends.

2012 Christmas Card

Tis the season, creative counterparts.  Here's this year's Christmas card.  I kept it pretty simple in style so as not to distract from the sentiment on the inside, which is what is most important:

The color scheme is a little outside the box for me.  I'm usually pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas colors.  But overall, I am pleased with my foray into contemporary colors.  So here is what I used for my cards:

Card base - Gina K. Designs heavy base weight navy cardstock
Patterned paper - Jingle by Close to My Heart
Mister Huey's Color Mists in opaque white (doesn't show up in the photos, but adds great dimension in real life)
Snowflake - Kerri Bradford cut file from the This and That Winter kit
Silver embossing powder by Hero Arts
Scalloped Window with candle (I omitted the candles) cut file from Silhouette
Inside sentiment - white cardstock, Ginda K. Designs pure luxury layering weight; Sentiment is a Silhouette cut file that I converted to a print and cut file along with the window frame from the front of the card
Silver metal 'gem' by Mark Richards

Most of my creative efforts are spent in front of my sewing maching, but my sewing and crafting time is pretty much split during this time of year as there are so many great gift items to be made.  I do, however, have a quick little sewing project to share with you this weekend.  So stay tuned.   :)

What about you, does your sewing time give way to other creative outlets during this season?  I would love to hear about or see some of your projects.

Birthday Wishes

Happy 28th Birthday to my dear daughter!  You are a gorgeous girl, a terrrific mom, and a talented crafter.

Because of caring for aging parents last week and preparing to teach VBS next week, I haven't accomplished a whole lot of sewing this week.  But I am busy completing other projects.  Here is one of them:  it has nothing to do with sewing, but I wanted to share the tag I made for my daughter's present.

Gift bag:  re-purposed
Tag:  made by me

Here's a close up of the tag:

Cardstok, printed paper, and stamped sentiments:  Gina K. Designs
Die cut tag:  Spellbinders
Background stamp & paper flowers:  Hero Arts
Glitter brad:  American Crafts
I should have a sewing project to share by the end of the week.

Baby Card

I did sew myself a new top this week, but I don't have pictures to share yet.  So until then, here is a card I made for a friend.  Her baby girl was born a few weeks ago and I intend to sew up a diaper carrier for her in the near future.

Hedgehog stamp by Penny Black; Patterned paper by Close to My Heart; Paper flowers by Hero Arts

I'm going on a short road trip for a few days and I plan to wear my new top tomorrow.  My photographer agreed to stop along the way long enough to take some pics of me in my new outfit.  You know how some men are - making good time, can't stop now!  :)

When I return I will post a review and pictures of my new Vogue peplum top.  I love it and I can't wait to share it with my sweet readers.  The pattern is a winner, IMHO.  Until then, have a terrific weekend.

Halloween Card

Here's a quick little card I made for my parents.

My inspiration for this card is from Nichol Magouirk’s blog.  I used Gina K. Designs ivory cardstock for the card base and the pumpkin rubber stamp is from her Falling for You Stamp TV kit.  I stamped the pumpkins on watercolor paper, then heat embossed with white embossing powder, and painted in with Close to My Heart markers (goldrush & olive) spritzed with pearlized water.  It was a technique I learned in Jennifer McGuire’s Inpsiration Showcase online card class last month.  I adhered them to the front of the card using pop dots.  The spider & web & BOO! acrylic stamps are from Close to my Heart (CTMH).  I die cut the tree and fence using my Silhouette.  I cut the tree out of ivory cardstock, then rubbed CTMH chocolate dye ink on it and let it dry.  Then I used CTMH colonial white dye ink on the Hero Arts designer woodgrain background stamp to give the tree a little dimension.  The background paper is from a 6 x 6 paper pad by My Mind’s Eye called Mischievous.

I'm currently quilting my bed runner and hope to have a review posted on here in the next few days.

Easter Cards

Here are my 2011 Easter cards:
The card itself is made from Gina K designs pure luxury cardstock (lemon drop) which I cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored with my Scor Pal at 4 1/4".  Then I stamped and embossed the fabulous design from Gina K designs (Christ has Risen by Nina Brackett) in black embossing.  Then I stamped the background stripes (Hero Arts Repositionable Rubber Stamp) with Vivid ink (lemon ice).  The greeting is from the same Christ is Risen stamp set from Gina K designs and I cut the label (labels #14 by Spellbinders) using my Cricut.  The pearl embellishments are from Close to my Heart.

Here is the inside of the card.  Again the sentiment is from the Christ is Risen stamp set.
