Perpetual Scripture Calendar

Hubs and I hosted a social for our church group at our home last month.
I wanted to give something sweet to the wives.
You know, just to let them know I love them.

This pdf download was the perfect answer to my search.
I purchased it on Etsy from Amy J Delightful.

After printing 15 copies of each page, I cut and bound them.
For the back cover I used coordinating cardstock.
The front and back covers are laminated.
I used my Purple Cows laminating machine.
(Love that gadget)

The plastic comb binding (a machine we've had for about 20 years)
allows for the calendar pages to be displayed horizontally

. . .or vertically.
Great inspiration all tied up in a cute little book.

What inspires you, my friends?

2012 Christmas Card

Tis the season, creative counterparts.  Here's this year's Christmas card.  I kept it pretty simple in style so as not to distract from the sentiment on the inside, which is what is most important:

The color scheme is a little outside the box for me.  I'm usually pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas colors.  But overall, I am pleased with my foray into contemporary colors.  So here is what I used for my cards:

Card base - Gina K. Designs heavy base weight navy cardstock
Patterned paper - Jingle by Close to My Heart
Mister Huey's Color Mists in opaque white (doesn't show up in the photos, but adds great dimension in real life)
Snowflake - Kerri Bradford cut file from the This and That Winter kit
Silver embossing powder by Hero Arts
Scalloped Window with candle (I omitted the candles) cut file from Silhouette
Inside sentiment - white cardstock, Ginda K. Designs pure luxury layering weight; Sentiment is a Silhouette cut file that I converted to a print and cut file along with the window frame from the front of the card
Silver metal 'gem' by Mark Richards

Most of my creative efforts are spent in front of my sewing maching, but my sewing and crafting time is pretty much split during this time of year as there are so many great gift items to be made.  I do, however, have a quick little sewing project to share with you this weekend.  So stay tuned.   :)

What about you, does your sewing time give way to other creative outlets during this season?  I would love to hear about or see some of your projects.

There is Beauty Scrapbook Layout

As my disclaimer states, I always have a notion to sew, but sometimes other endeavors take my attention.  This is one of those instances.  I fully intended to start another sewing project today, but this photo kept staring at me and I had to make a scrapbook page.

The papers I used are a combination of papers from Anna Griffin, K & Comapny, and Close to My Heart.  I used this kit from Kerri Bradford to make the photo collage.  It was the first time I've used any of her photo masks and I am hooked.  The black flowers above the photo were made by stamping (Hero Arts stamp) with Versa Mark ink and then embossing with black embossing powder.  The layout was inspired from a layout by Nichol Magouirk.  I die cut the title and the notebook tag using my Silhouette.  The die cuts are also designs by Kerri Bradford.  The two embellishments on the bottom right corner are from K & Company.

Okay, back to sewing.

Treat Boxes

This was my weekend project.  My boy is in the military and can't come home for Christmas this year.  These crafty containers are filled with homemade ginger cookies, chocolate-dipped peanut butter/ritz cookies, and fudge.

I purchased very inexpensive containers at my local craft store and embellished them with scrapbook papers and little items I had on hand.  Isn't that boot die cut just too clever?  I used my Silhouette craft cutter to cut the boot and the double-layered rosette on the bottom right container.  The rosette is from the Silhouette online store and the awesome boot is from Kerri Bradford.

Okay, back to sewing.  I'm in the process of cutting a skirt for Christmas Eve.  The cutting is going slow because I'm using a plaid fabric.  The pattern I'm trying out is the Ginger skirt from Colette Patterns.

Have a great week.

Halloween Card

Here's a quick little card I made for my parents.

My inspiration for this card is from Nichol Magouirk’s blog.  I used Gina K. Designs ivory cardstock for the card base and the pumpkin rubber stamp is from her Falling for You Stamp TV kit.  I stamped the pumpkins on watercolor paper, then heat embossed with white embossing powder, and painted in with Close to My Heart markers (goldrush & olive) spritzed with pearlized water.  It was a technique I learned in Jennifer McGuire’s Inpsiration Showcase online card class last month.  I adhered them to the front of the card using pop dots.  The spider & web & BOO! acrylic stamps are from Close to my Heart (CTMH).  I die cut the tree and fence using my Silhouette.  I cut the tree out of ivory cardstock, then rubbed CTMH chocolate dye ink on it and let it dry.  Then I used CTMH colonial white dye ink on the Hero Arts designer woodgrain background stamp to give the tree a little dimension.  The background paper is from a 6 x 6 paper pad by My Mind’s Eye called Mischievous.

I'm currently quilting my bed runner and hope to have a review posted on here in the next few days.

Easter Cards

Here are my 2011 Easter cards:
The card itself is made from Gina K designs pure luxury cardstock (lemon drop) which I cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored with my Scor Pal at 4 1/4".  Then I stamped and embossed the fabulous design from Gina K designs (Christ has Risen by Nina Brackett) in black embossing.  Then I stamped the background stripes (Hero Arts Repositionable Rubber Stamp) with Vivid ink (lemon ice).  The greeting is from the same Christ is Risen stamp set from Gina K designs and I cut the label (labels #14 by Spellbinders) using my Cricut.  The pearl embellishments are from Close to my Heart.

Here is the inside of the card.  Again the sentiment is from the Christ is Risen stamp set.
